Can I take Alcohol and Norco together?

Why this happens

Both alcohol and hydrocodone (the opioid in Norco) are central nervous system depressants, meaning they slow down brain activity and the signals that tell your body to breathe. When taken together, these effects are multiplied (synergistic). Furthermore, alcohol changes how the liver processes paracetamol, leading to the buildup of toxic substances that destroy liver cells.

Do not drink any alcohol while taking Norco. If you have accidentally combined them and feel excessively sleepy, dizzy, or have difficulty breathing, seek emergency medical help immediately. Always inform your doctor if you have a history of heavy alcohol use before starting this medication.
