Taking atorvastatin and colecalciferol (Vitamin D3) together is generally safe and may even be beneficial. Some studies suggest that Vitamin D can slightly lower the levels of atorvastatin in your blood, but this rarely affects how well the medicine works to lower your cholesterol. Conversely, atorvastatin may actually help increase your Vitamin D levels.

It is generally considered safe to take atorvastatin och colecalciferol (Vitamin D3) together.
Both substances are processed by the same enzyme in the liver (CYP3A4). Because they compete for this enzyme, they can slightly influence each other's levels, but not to a degree that is clinically dangerous for most people.

How to take atorvastatin and colecalciferol safely
Take both medications as prescribed.
You do not need to change the timing of your doses.
If you experience any unusual muscle pain or weakness (a rare side effect of statins), you should always inform your doctor, regardless of whether you are taking Vitamin D.

You must not take atorvastatin if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, as it can cause serious harm to an unborn baby. Use effective contraception while taking this medicine.
Muscle disorders - atorvastatin
Seek immediate medical advice if you experience unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness. In rare cases, this can lead to a serious condition called rhabdomyolysis which causes kidney damage.
High calcium levels (hypercalcaemia)
Do not take colecalciferol if you have high levels of calcium in your blood or pee (urine), or if you have severe kidney stones.

Grapefruit juice can increase the level of atorvastatin in your blood, which may increase the risk of side effects like muscle pain or damage. Avoid drinking large amounts (more than 1.2 litres daily), though a small glass is usually safe.
Alkohol
Drinking large amounts of alcohol while taking atorvastatin can increase the risk of liver problems. It is best to keep your alcohol intake within the recommended limits.
