Varför detta händer
Evening primrose oil contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which can interfere with how platelets (the cells that help blood clot) stick together. Turmeric (curcumin) also has natural anti-clotting effects. When used together, these effects can add up, making it harder for your blood to clot if you injure yourself. Additionally, the black pepper (piperine) in your supplement can increase the absorption of many substances, potentially making the effects of the evening primrose oil stronger.
Vad du bör göra
Tillbaka till innehållUse this combination with caution. If you notice unusual bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums, stop taking them and speak to your doctor. You should stop taking both supplements at least two weeks before any scheduled surgery. If you are already taking prescribed blood thinners (like warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel), do not take this combination without medical supervision.

Both supplements can thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising or bleeding. You must stop taking them at least 2 weeks before any planned surgery.
Gallstones or bile duct obstruction
Turmeric stimulates the gallbladder and can cause painful contractions or blockages if you have existing gallstones or bile duct issues.
Varningar för mat och dryck
Tillbaka till innehållAlkohol
It is best to avoid or strictly limit alcohol when taking these supplements. Alcohol can increase the risk of stomach irritation and, in some cases, may interfere with the way your body processes these substances, potentially increasing the risk of side effects.
Grapefruit juice
Grapefruit juice can interfere with the enzymes that break down certain compounds in turmeric and black pepper. This may lead to higher levels of the supplement in your bloodstream, increasing the risk of side effects. It is best to avoid large amounts of grapefruit juice.
Foods high in Vitamin K (e.g. leafy greens)
Turmeric may have mild blood-thinning properties. If you are taking turmeric alongside a diet very high in Vitamin K, or if you are on blood-thinning medication (like warfarin), this could affect how your blood clots. Maintain a consistent intake of Vitamin K-rich foods rather than making sudden large changes.
Fatty meals
Both evening primrose oil and turmeric (curcumin) are fat-soluble. Taking them with a meal that contains some healthy fats (such as yoghurt, avocado, or olive oil) can significantly improve how well your body absorbs them.
Caffeine
Piperine (found in black pepper) can slow down the rate at which your body rids itself of caffeine. This may increase the effects of caffeine, leading to jitters, heart palpitations, or insomnia.
