Taking pregabalin and Sedoxil (mexazolam) together can significantly increase the risk of severe drowsiness, dizziness, and breathing difficulties. You may feel extremely sleepy, confused, or unsteady on your feet, which increases the risk of falls and accidents. In serious cases, it can lead to slowed or shallow breathing.

Varför detta händer
Both medications are central nervous system (CNS) depressants. They work by slowing down brain activity in different ways. When taken together, their effects add up (a synergistic effect), leading to much stronger sedation than either drug would cause on its own.
Vad du bör göra
Tillbaka till innehållYou should only take these two medicines together if they have been specifically prescribed by the same doctor who is aware of both prescriptions. Avoid driving, operating heavy machinery, or performing tasks that require alertness until you know how this combination affects you. Do not drink alcohol while taking these medications. Viktiga försiktighetsåtgärder
Tillbaka till innehållSevere respiratory depression and sedation
Both medicines cause central nervous system depression. Taking them together, or with alcohol or opioids, significantly increases the risk of life-threatening breathing difficulties, extreme sleepiness, and coma.
Mental health disorders
Pregabalin can cause suicidal thoughts or an urge to self-harm. You must seek medical help immediately if your mood changes or you have thoughts of hurting yourself.
Graviditet
Pregabalin use during the first three months of pregnancy may increase the risk of birth defects. Effective contraception must be used during treatment.
Drug dependence and withdrawal
Pregabalin carries a risk of dependence and addiction. Do not stop taking it suddenly, as this can cause severe withdrawal symptoms such as seizures or anxiety.
Sedoxil is a benzodiazepine and can lead to physical and psychological dependence even at therapeutic doses. Do not stop taking it suddenly, as this can cause severe withdrawal symptoms including seizures and hallucinations.
Varningar för mat och dryck
Tillbaka till innehållAlkohol
It is best to avoid or strictly limit alcohol while taking these medicines. Both pregabalin and Sedoxil cause drowsiness and dizziness; alcohol significantly increases these effects, which can lead to dangerous levels of sedation, breathing difficulties, and loss of coordination. Combining alcohol with these medicines also increases the risk of liver damage.
Grapefruit juice
Avoid drinking grapefruit juice or eating grapefruit while taking Sedoxil. Grapefruit contains compounds that interfere with how your body breaks down this medicine, which can lead to higher levels of the drug in your blood and increase the risk of side effects like extreme sleepiness.
Caffeine (Coffee, Tea, Energy Drinks)
Limit your intake of caffeine. Caffeine is a stimulant that can counteract the calming effects of Sedoxil and pregabalin, potentially making your treatment less effective for anxiety or sleep issues.
