Overview

Fibroids are non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the womb, often during the reproductive years, and can cause symptoms like heavy periods, pelvic pain, and bloating, though some people have no symptoms at all.

Fibroids can be removed through surgery like a myomectomy or hysterectomy, or less invasive options like uterine fibroid embolisation.

Fibroids can cause complications including heavy or prolonged periods, bäckensmärta, frequent peeing, förstoppning, fertility issues, and, during pregnancy, they can sometimes lead to missfall, premature birth, or problems during labor.
